Expectations: Well
right now I feel like I’m finally getting it. At first I thought it
was about detail and realism and know I’m much looser as a sculptor
and artist. I’d like to continue loosening up and see what my work looks
like then.
Advice to new sculptors or amateurs sculptors:
Don’t take shortcuts, enjoy the process of creating,
step away from your work and if possible look at it another day, experiment
with different styles and don’t get caught up with any one piece, you’ll
have another chance to apply what you’ve learned on the next project,
and most importantly photograph your work.
Name:
Dave Cortes.
Birth date: 03/27/74.
Studio name: Inu Art.
Headquarters location: Inu
Art Studio is located in historic Red Hook Brooklyn,USA. the neighborhood
that gave Al Capone his scar.
Experience: I’ve
been sculpting for about 13 years now and making action figures for about
7.
Material preferences:
I do about 80% of my work in castilene, but use wax as well and sculpey for
those one day projects.
Sculpture’s size: It
really depends on the project, but I got to say that a 12” scale is
probably best for a likeness.
Influences: Theres a bunch
of sculptors that I know in the toy industry that are amazing. Aside from
sculpts that blow me away I get a lot of inspiration from 2D artwork. But
all credit goes to the fullmoon flick Puppet Master that got me sculpting
in the first place.
